Dr. Pompei is passionate about helping our patients achieve their personal functional and aesthetic goals for beautiful, confident smiles.
She understands first-hand the power of orthodontics. She sought treatment herself as an adult and not only did it give her the smile she had always dreamed of, it sparked a desire for a drastic career change. Dr. Pompei initially graduated in 2001 from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia with a Government/Economics interdisciplinary degree. She minored in Business Information Technology. She spent five years working as an analyst for a global professional client services/consulting firm, where she worked on large-scale computer systems development, management and strategy projects. After receiving orthodontic treatment, she was inspired to return to school for seven years and change careers.
In 2006, she returned to school and earned a degree in Premedical Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. She went on to Columbia University in New York, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2011, followed by a residency at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston where she earned a certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in June 2013.
“My orthodontic experience as an adult has helped me to truly listen for and understand the patient’s perspective,” Dr. Pompei says. “Individual patient concerns and satisfaction are my top priority.”
This Alexandria, Virginia native is a published author who stays on top of the latest high-quality orthodontic research and participates in numerous continuing education conferences and seminars each year. Her desire is to always base patient treatment on what the best evidence available shows to be effective, safe and efficient.
Dr. Pompei moved to Manhattan about a decade ago, and she plans to call herself a New Yorker for life.
“We feel fortunate to have Dr. Pompei on our team,” says New York City orthodontist Dr. Mark Bronsky. “She is an excellent addition to our office.”
In addition to her orthodontic knowledge and skill, her excellent taste in music was an indicator that she was the right person for our office. Her vast love of music prevents her from picking a favorite, but she knows all the words to songs from musicians that range from the John Butler Trio, Mason Jennings and Billy Joel, to the Beatles, Nirvana, Cake, Vampire Weekend and Foster the People. She loves to work out to pop, hip-hop and rap. When she wants to relax, she turns to Thievery Corporation, Dean Martin, Chopin, Louis Armstrong, or Broadway tunes.
Dr. Pompei also is an avid runner who has completed marathons in New York City and Boston.
